Unexpected changes in wind conditions can cause chemical plant protection products to drift in the wrong direction. SprayWithCare (SWC) collects weather and wind data, analyses the information in real time and gives operators immediate support while spraying is under way. The innovation has now been awarded silver in the Elmia Agriculture Innovation Award 2026 – and was developed as part of a project in which Agtech Sweden is a project partner.
When spraying chemical plant protection products, operators must take several factors into account at the same time to comply with current legal requirements. At present, weather and wind conditions are often assessed before work begins, but once the sprayer is in operation, it is more difficult to obtain continuous, objective information on how the wind is actually affecting the spraying.
Real-time data on your mobile
Using sensors fitted to the sprayer, SprayWithCare measures temperature, humidity, wind speed and wind direction. The information is analysed in real time and displayed to operators on a mobile phone or tablet. This enables them to adjust factors such as driving speed, boom height and nozzle selection immediately to suit the prevailing conditions.
By also taking factors such as geocoordinates and dosage into account, the system is intended to support more sustainable crop production, reduce environmental impact and enable safer use of plant protection products, while also increasing precision and efficiency. With support from the European Innovation Partnership (EIP), the ‘Sprutsensorn’ is now being further developed into a finished product.
Partners
SprayWithCare has been developed with support from the Swedish Board of Agriculture and within the framework of the EU’s innovation partnership, EIP-AGRI (European Innovation Partnership for Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability). The project is led by Tolefors Gård. Other partners include Linköping University, R & R Kårstad AB, A-Electronix AB and Lovang Lantbrukskonsult. Linköping University is represented in the project by Agtech Sweden.
Awards ceremony at Elmia Agriculture
The Elmia Agriculture Innovation Award recognises new and innovative technology in agriculture and livestock production. The award highlights solutions that address specific needs in the agricultural sector and, among other things, create opportunities for greater precision, efficiency and improved animal welfare. The award ceremony will take place on 15 October 2026 during the Elmia Agriculture trade fair.

Axel Lagerfelt, one of the driving forces behind the development of SprayWithCare, will be demonstrating the innovation at the arena.
About the jury for Elmia Agriculture Innovation Award
This year’s jury comprises Charlotte Önnestedt (Åby Storgård), Per Frankelius (Linköping University), Mikael Gilbertsson (RISE), Helena Torkelsson (Växa Sverige AB), Rebecca Johansson (Land Lantbruk) and Johannes Hansson (Elmia Lantbruk).
Per Frankelius did not take part in the jury’s decision regarding SprayWithCare, as he had declared a conflict of interest.
