Agtech Sweden – An innovation environment in agriculture
Agtech Sweden’s mission is to create a unique, strong, inclusive and equal innovation environment that can gather resources and competencies that reflect several of the region’s areas of strength. Agtech Sweden will enrich the innovation system in agricultural technology and contribute to a change that keeps the sustainability goals high and is based on new applications of technology and methods.
The initiative has been designated a Winnväxt program with a timetable that extends over 10 years and with a planned budget of 200 million. Behind the initiative are several different organizations, including Region Östergötland, the Household Association and Vreta Cluster. Linköping University and the Institute for Economic and Industrial Development (IEI) is the host organization.
Tomorrow’s most prominent region in agricultural technology
Our vision is that Östergötland and neighboring areas will become one of the world’s most prominent regions in agricultural technology by 2030. The region stands out through significant investments in agricultural-related technology, successful start-ups, applied cutting-edge research in dense networks between research institutions and business, large-investing tech companies with international successes. Furthermore, Östergötland is distinguished by high-tech and high-yielding agricultural companies that, through the use of new and revolutionary technology – and through new business models – contribute to achieving global sustainability goals. Furthermore, there is a public sector that, through forward-looking action, accelerates innovations and contributes to sustainable development.

Agtech Sweden offers an actionable and productive innovation environment where we act both as an intermediary, innovation leader and co-creator of innovation. We stimulate value-creating meetings, are solution-oriented, take on important challenges and seek new, original solutions. We are proactive, collect and spread knowledge and also contribute to public education on a broader level. We highlight the importance of agriculture for the economy, society and the environment.
