How can we strengthen the preparedness and future competitiveness of Swedish agriculture? This was the main question when farmers, advisors, companies and organisations gathered at Vreta Kluster on 14 October for Future Day 2025, organised by LRF Öst, Vreta Kluster and Agtech Sweden.

The day featured engaging speakers, important discussions and many concrete examples of how we can jointly develop and equip agricultural businesses for the challenges of the future.
Among the speakers were Carl Tullberg from ST1, who spoke about local energy production and the opportunities to create on-farm input products; Kristina Nigell from the Swedish Board of Agriculture, who reviewed investment support schemes for robust primary production; and Lovisa Filipsson from the Rural Economy and Agricultural Societies of Jönköping, who addressed the concept of the robust farm.
After lunch, participants were presented with examples of island mode operation and on-farm electricity supply by Jonas Hellberg from NEPAB, as well as future-proof cultivation and water management by Mats Weinesson from Götala Gård.
Magnus Kagevik, CEO of Lantmännen, and Henrik Sjölund, CEO of Holmen, concluded the day with reflections on the business potential of agriculture and the major challenge of securing access to fossil-free electricity.
Between sessions, participants had the opportunity to network at the mini exhibition, where companies and organisations showcased solutions and projects contributing to more sustainable and resilient agriculture.
“The day clearly demonstrated the strength and commitment within the sector. Through collaboration and knowledge exchange, we can create better conditions for a resilient Swedish agriculture,” says Per Frankelius of Agtech Sweden.
Future Day 2025 concluded with a summary, refreshments and networking – and many participants left with new ideas, contacts and renewed energy for the future.
